Traffic controls… 392 drivers reported

During yesterday's inspections by police traffic teams, 2,434 vehicle drivers were checked and 392 drivers were penalized for various traffic offenses. One driver was arrested and 37 vehicles were banned from traffic.

According to a police press release, the reported traffic offences and figures are as follows:

“148 for speeding over the legal speed limit, 81 for using a mobile phone while driving, 10 for using a vehicle without a navigation license, 10 for using an uninspected vehicle,

10 for driving without wearing a seat belt, 8 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 7 for driving without insurance, 3 for not obeying traffic signs and signals, 2 for driving without a driving licence and without insurance, 1 for trucks weighing 5 thousand kg and over using the Kyrenia-Nicosia Main Road, 1 for driving without a business permit and 109 other traffic offences.”
