Nicosia, 7 March 2025 (TAK): Various events will be held across the country on the occasion of 8 March International Working Women's Day.
The United Nations Women's Unit (UN Women) has determined the theme for 8 March International Women's Day 2025 as 'For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment'.
The year 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Adopted by 189 governments in 1995, the declaration is considered the most comprehensive and progressive roadmap to safeguard the rights of women and girls.

Various events will be held across the country to mark March 8, International Working Women's Day.
The seminar and drama workshop titled “Domestic Labor and Beyond” organized in collaboration with HAKSEN and Women's Education Collective will start today at 13:00.
Women from the Famagusta Cultural Association and the Klotho Organization will organize a joint event today at 15:30 at Famagusta Avenue Garage, Derinya, with the contributions of the Social Struggle Platform. A photo exhibition called “Women’s Voice” will be opened by TOVAD at 19:00 today at Famagusta Bandabulya.
KTÖS and DAÜ-SEN will hold a panel titled “Teachers and Politicians: Struggle for Equality and Against Discrimination” at KTÖS today at 17:00. CTP MP Doğuş Derya and Independent MP Ayşegül Baybars will give speeches at the panel. Umut Bozkurt will moderate the event.
Within the scope of March 8, the painting exhibition titled “Here I am” will open today at 18:00 at Nicosia Eaves House.
Also today, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Presidential Symphony Orchestra (TRNC CSO) will give a concert at 20:00 at the Famagusta EMU Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center as part of March 8 International Women's Day.
Tomorrow, the Turkish Cypriot Women's Council Association will lay a wreath at the Atatürk Statue in Nicosia at 10.30. The ceremony will be held to express respect for the place, labor and struggle of women in social life.
The photography exhibition titled “Our Women Who Left Their Mark 1” organized by Yıltan Taşçı Academy will open tomorrow at 11:00 in the Nicosia Art Center M. Necati Özkan Exhibition Hall.
The Social Struggle Platform will also organize events for March 8. The book reading event organized by the Famagusta Culture Association will start tomorrow at 14:00 in Desdemona Park. Then, at 15:30, the “March 8 International Working Women's Day Solidarity March” will be held from the Famagusta Sulu Circle. After the march, Grup Detay will give a concert at Bandabulya at 17:00.
Tomorrow at 15:00, an action will be held by the March 8 Organizing Committee in Nicosia Kumsal Park with the slogan “Stubbornly Against Exploitation, With Hope Towards Peace”.
