Nicosia, 7 March 25 (TAK): The indefinite strike of the Turkish Cypriot Port and Vehicle Workers Union (Liman-Sen) at the ports of Famagusta and Kyrenia was suspended after the union and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport reached an agreement.
Liman-Sen was on an indefinite strike at the ports of Gazimağusa and Girne on the grounds that salaries and other allowances had not been paid for more than a month and that the collective labor agreement had not been complied with. Union officials who met with the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı this morning reached an agreement.
Answering the questions of the TAK reporter, Liman-Sen President Ajdan Bilgiç stated that the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı asked them for 15 days to work on solving the problems.
Bilgiç, who said, “We suspended the strike, everyone returned to work,” also thanked Minister Arıklı and the Free Port Zone Manager and the Liquidator of the Turkish Cypriot Dock Workers Company, Hasan Curcioğlu.
